Haircuts!

I cut the girls' hair this morning.

This is how much I cut off (Elizabeth's on the left, Angela's on the right, pencil for comparison):

Here are the results:

Princess pirates!

Elizabeth and Angela were invited to a pirate party.

What do you do when two very princessy girls must get out of their crowns and long dresses and go as pirates?

You go as princess pirates.

They both drew skulls and crossbones: Elizabeth's is above the rainbow, and Angela's is beneath that spot of fancy pirate writing.

They say it was The Best Party Ever.

More Pioneer Day festivities...

We lit fireworks in the street to celebrate Pioneer Day. It was, literally, a blast.

The days are long, and we didn't want to wait until sundown to start.

This is what it was like:

Sparklers!

Ground bloom in action:

Fire hazard? In the desert?? Not us!

Pioneer Day

Today is Pioneer Day!! We celebrated with a very early gathering at the church for breakfast and games.

On the way to the celebrations on a decorated scooter and bike:

Angela's ready to roll:

So is Elizabeth:

Excited!

Introspective:

Sisters:

Tug of war!

Look at Landon flying!

Pulling on a stick:

Elizabeth won the first round:

Angela won the second:

And, finally, a cute and very short video I caught, purely by chance:

Can't keep a straight face, not when I'm up against this sort of thing

Angela: Sometimes my skin turns white when I punch myself.
Me: When you punch yourself?
Angela: Yes, like this.
[she pinches her hand]

Better late than never....

...right??

4th of July pictures:

The BEST tradition since fireworks: Homemade root beer:

I wasn't the only one having a blast:

We love dry ice:

We also love fireworks:

I love this picture because she looks closer to her soul's age than her actual age:

Kind of excited:

No pictures of the fireworks show. I love fireworks too much to think about holding a camera while they're going off.

What do you do with paper, crayons, tape, and a stick?

The girls wanted to be TRUE princesses, and decided they had to have fancy fans to accomplish it. At first they wanted to buy them, but I convinced them (go, MOM!) that they could make their own fans.

The party was out of this world....

Here's a link to the only existing pictures of Than's birthday bash.

OK, they're simply the only pictures I'm aware of. Enjoy!

Love notes

We've been finding little notes around the house lately...

This one was on my desk:

And these were under our pillows:

I know it's illegible. It says:

Dearmomanddadiloveyouihopeyougivemeuquarter

(We give quarters as rewards for good behavior - evidently it works.)
