Limerick madness returns to California

Me, my sister, my mother, Lance, and Mandy played the limerick game (each of us wrote one line of a limerick and then passed it, wrote the next line, and so on, until all five poems were finished). Great group!! We came up with some gems:

A blowfish came out of the sky
When a starfish hit him in the eye.
The blowfish cried "Ow!
The rules don't allow
for eye hits," he said with a sigh.

Dress ruffles collect all the crumbs
So do beards and pockets and gum.
When I shake out my shirt
And start my dessert,
My day's collection goes into my tum!

This one is my personal favorite:

The two girls wanted to bake a cake
With lots of sprinkles, for goodness sake!
Sugar high was the goal,
For the night, as you know,
Is sweet when you spend it awake.

Great stuff!

Lunch preparations...

Angela: I want to help you!
Me: OK, do you want to wash the grapes?
Angela: Umm...Actually, right now, I need to dance...

Elizabeth: I want to cut up the strawberries!
Me: Umm...
Elizabeth: [reassuringly] I'll use a butter knife.
Me: Oh, alright. You can cut them up into quarters like this.
Elizabeth: No, I want to cut them another way. Now they're all going to look different.

Some of my favorite clips

First, this amazing one, which you have to watch closely, or you'll miss the best part:

For Josie, one of my all-time favorite Flight of the Conchords songs:

Alright, I love Muse. I think this is really funny, sheep and all:

Kindergarten graduation!

Elizabeth graduated Kindergarten!
While I used to mock the idea of kindergarten graduations, this one was very sweet.

Here she is, the graduate!

Bring on the blurry, shaky clips!!
"I like school"

"Days of the Week"

Elizabeth saying her line:

"Months of the Year"

"ABC Song"

"I Can't Spell Hippopotamus"

"I like being me"

Graduation!

With the other graduates:

Angela's skinned knees (which she got on the way to the graduation ceremony and showed off at every opportunity):

OK, so you can't really see the injuries.  But you can tell the extent of them by the look on her face:

Elizabeth's teacher:

Last time in the classroom!

Angela's joke

Do you know what elephants like?

Other elephants!!!

Memorial Day Limerick Attack

Five of us -- me, Than, Susie, and our good friends Chris and Sarah -- created these little gems:

To the moon and then back just once more
This time we'll settle the old score
Just me and my honey
I've bet all our money
That we'll need to ask directions for sure.

The radiance of the moon, in lumens
Is not too hard to construmens
I contemplate snow
And how it doth glow
I give up! This limerick's in ruins!

"I'm sorry!" he said with a start
"But I must stop eating my tart."
My stomach is swelling
And I don't mind telling
That the gas that I'll pass's off the chart.
(note that the author of the last line didn't use the obvious -art rhyme, but got the meaning across just as clearly.)
