A friend of one of my dear friends owns a farm, and we were invited to spend some time up there with her family, to milk cows, chase chickens, and breathe in the fresh country air.
Elizabeth milked a cow!
Angela was wary, and did it so quickly that all I managed to get was this blurry picture:
A tiny cow:
Befriending the animals:
Cows are very patient.
And, it turns out, so are chickens:
The kids got to ride around on this little car:
I didn't realize it at the time, but this picture records the beginning of the end:
Elizabeth fell for that dog, Lucky.
Gathering eggs:
I should've realized a little sooner that the Lucky bug had bitten:
Under the trampoline:
...and they're both hooked. They didn't want to leave Lucky.
When I finally, forcefully, dragged them away from the dog, they were utterly forlorn. Elizabeth found a popsicle stick and wrote "Lucky" all over it.
Luckily for me, she doesn't want just any dog--she wants Lucky. And that dog already has an owner.

Excellent. it is SO Important to make sure the kids know to treat animals with love and respect and being able to interact with them is a huge privilege and to let them see close up how they interact!! YEA!!
