Spring Break, Part 2: Moab

I can't say enough how much we loved Moab.

We arrived late and tired and just had time for dinner.  Here's Angela ready to sleep before her food arrived:

Sleepy Eliz drew on her placemat to keep her eyes open:

The next morning we went for an early-morning drive.

And we went to Arches National Park:

Sheep Rock!

We loved it here.

Did I mention our luck with family pictures?...

It was quite windy that day.

Elephant rocks

We took several little hikes.

Delicate Arch! (You might have to squint)

There it is!

Double Arch:

It's a bit intimidating, being underneath so many tons of rock.

We couldn't stop the kids from playing in the rocks.  Good thing we didn't want to!

The "running signpost" effect:

There is no end of amazing scenery here.

We hiked into the Devils Garden.

Frequent stops to get rocks, sand, etc., out of our shoes.

I was stunned into awed silence by this place.

Landscape Arch, the longest natural arch in the world!

It's 290 feet long...since a large chunk of it collapsed a few years ago, the trail that leads up to it was closed, and this is as close as you can legally get to it now.

The kids finally got to do what they wanted:

We played on the way back:

We drove up to Dead Horse Point:

Pictures in no way do this place any justice. It was incredible.

My goofy kids:

We drove on into Canyonlands:

Loves:

This is one of my favorite pictures, ever:

I think the kids got tired of hearing "Stay back from the edge!"

Oh, we didn't have nearly enough time here. We loved it so much that it inspired us to make some changes to how we live and how we want to experience Moab when we go back.

More on that in a bit.
